





Little known to the outside world, Kara is home to some of the finest works of art and sculpture. From an MF Husain lithographic series ‘Passage into Human Space’, to a Manjit Bawa tapestry, from serigraphs by K.B. Subramaniam to photographs by Naveen Kishore, a curious soul will uncover treasures.

We’ve given new meaning to ‘plant to plate’. The garden that surrounds you here is landscaped with edible plants! Some of them are medicinal, some are aromatics, and others still, are key ingredients. All of them go into recreating recipes borrowed from cultures that form the fabric of Fort Kochi. Set forth on a gastronomical exploration.

To restore the aging bungalow to its present glory, renowned architects, Goetz Hagmuller from Austria, and Soumitra Ghosh from Bangalore, and Bijoy Jain from Bombay, worked on the aesthetics. The result is a space that is true to its Dutch roots, and elevates it to a contemporary escape. Set about exploring nooks that are art deco, Dutch and quintessentially native.
